What is Difference between Pediatric Dentist and General Dentist?

So what is really different about your #general #dentist vs. a #pediatric #dentist? Yes, we can figure out that #pediatric #dentists work with #kids, but what sets them apart, and is it worth the extra money spent visiting a specialist? That’s a common question from parents.

Our response will obviously be a resounding ‘YES ‘to that question – and here is the reason why.
A #pediatric #dentist is trained beyond #dental school in caring for #children with special healthcare needs, as well as understanding the unique needs of a #child. Experience has taught us that #children are definitively not just ‘little adults’ and as such they have needs apart from our own as adults. As parents, we know that introducing our #kids to new experiences and teaching them about the world around them takes on a new light when seen through 3 foot-high vision and so working with a #doctor and staff that are trained specifically to work with a #child’s worldview is extremely important to laying the foundation to a positive visit.

General #dentists do not uniformly receive training in care of special patients and #teenagers in general, although some may have had additional training after #dental school encompassing patients with special healthcare needs. #Pediatric #dentists are also more likely to have affiliations with hospitals and established relationships with other #Toddler #Dentist and other #Child's Specialties which creates a network of health professionals dedicated to your #child’s well being.
It’s also important to choose a #pediatric #dentist that has sought additional voluntary certifications by the #Pediatric #Dentistry organizations. These #dentists have completed additional training and studies to prepare them to educate families and identify specialized treatment that many general #dentists may not recognize.

Simply put, a #pediatric #dentist specializes in caring for #children as they go through the various stages of childhood, from infancy to the teen years.

At #Teeth #Care #Centre #Dental #Hospital, #Ahmedabad goal is to create a #dental home that is safe, friendly and effective for #kids, so they can relax and be free of fear and anxiety.

Importance of Sterilization and Disinfection

Sterilization procedures are very important to any good dental practice. These are a part of basic care and handling of patients that your dentist must incorporate to be able to give you quality oral health care.

The Centers for Disease Control has laid down infection control guidelines that a dental clinic should adhere to: A well-ventilated room with air-circulating devices prevents building up of aerosols produced from the dental drills. Use scrub apron, eyewear, disposable gloves and facemasks. The patient is draped, and may be given a protective “face shield” to prevent skin contamination from the dental drill’s water spray. An anti-microbial mouth rinse just before a dental procedure is important to reduce contamination. The dental chair’s knobs and handles need to be chemically disinfected between patients. All the dental instruments that go into patient’s mouth need to be subjected a high-degree sterilization procedure, such as “autoclaving,” which destroys all microbial contamination. These instruments are then stored in a dry, sterile, contained area such as disposable pouches or cassettes, and removed just before using for the patient. Local injections require disposable needles with single-use syringes or sterile cartridges for each patient.

Infection control measures not only reduce the chances of getting a dental infection, they also reduce the risk of catching serious diseases like HIV and hepatitis, so choosing a sterile dentist is important to stay healthy!
